How much weight can the Cherokee tow?

While almost every trim may come standard with a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with 184 horsepower, a second engine option is also available. The Overland trim comes standard with a 3.2-liter V6 engine that is offered to the other trims as well. This engine has 271 horsepower. The first engine is capable of towing a maximum weight of 2,000 pounds, while the second engine has a class-leading towing rate of 4,500 pounds. Both engines have a standard pairing with the nine-speed automatic transmission and the choice of either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Although, four-wheel drive is the drivetrain to go for if you want off-roading ability. The four-wheel drive has options between Jeep Active Drive I with a single-speed transfer, an Active Drive II with a two-speed transfer, or even an Active Drive Lock with the additional rock mode added onto the Selec-Terrain system.

How many trim levels?

Five trims are available to choose from for the 2018 Cherokee. These trims begin their lineup with the new base trim, the Latitude. The Latitude comes standard with a satellite radio, passive keyless entry with push-button start, fold flat rear seats, and a rear view camera. The next trim, the Latitude Plus, adds to the Latitude with features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 115-volt power outlet, Bluetooth, a Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen, and ambient interior lighting. The trim with the most off-roading features is next. The Trailhawk comes with skidplates, off-road suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, and tow hooks. The Limited trim then adds a wiper de-icer, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The final trim is the Overland with cornering lights, a navigation system, upgraded leather upholstery, and even a sound-deadening windshield.

How is safety prioritized?

As always the Cherokee puts safety first with standard equipment like its ten advanced airbags, its high-strength steel body structure, its sentry key theft deterrent system to immobilize the engine, emergency assistance, and even Uconnect Send ‘n Go with vehicle finder. Additionally, features like all speed traction control, blind spot and cross path detection, electronic roll mitigation, front passenger seat belt alert, electronic stability control, an enhanced accident response system, hill descent control, full speed collision warning with crash mitigation, hill start assist, a panic alarm, lane departure warning, a park assist system, a security alarm, speed control, and a rear backup camera are available to add-on as well.
